If you look around online, you won't have to search too long before finding a working unofficial trailer for Odd Thomas, the adaptation of the Dean Koontz novel about a short-order cook named Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin) who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police chief (Willem Dafoe) know. Thomas can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs, who feed on pain and portent imminent death. When Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe. But don't count on seeing this flick anytime soon.
THR has word on a legal dispute from Two Out of Ten Productions (TOOT) and Fusion Films against Outsource Media Group Fund, ABS Investment Group, individuals Craig Chang and Mark Bishop, and Outsource Media Group. The lawsuit focuses on $25 million which should have been spent on prints and advertising to support a release of Odd Thomas in the U.S. and another $10 million to partially refinance certain loans. However, deadlines for that money to surface have passed, and producers are not happy.
This is simply bad news for the fans, because as long as this legal dispute is in play, the film definitely won't see release. We're not even sure if the film is complete yet, but it was trying on the Cannes Sales Market, so it at least has to be close to completion. If you check out the working trailer, the film doesn't look like a knockout, but with Yelchin in the lead, an interesting story and a supporting cast that includes Willem Dafoe and Patton Oswalt, we were at least provoked to see how the film from director Stephen Sommers (G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, The Mummy) turned out. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

July marks an important step forward for Roanoke College. The Virginia liberal arts college welcomes its first general counsel, G. Michael Pace Jr.?only a month before his daughter will join Roanoke as an incoming freshman.
That?s a coincidence, according to Roanoke President Michael Maxey. The school began to consider hiring a GC long before Pace?s daughter was college-aged. ?We started to look at this about six years ago and polled a number of other institutions about their approaches to in-house and outside counsel, and concluded that it was a good idea [to hire a general counsel] as soon as we could get to it,? he said.
In 2004, Roanoke announced a strategic plan to be ?one of the top 100 liberal arts colleges? in the U.S. by 2017 and began a period of expansion, focusing on everything from the school?s endowment to its physical plant. In April, the college kicked off a $200 million fundraising campaign, the largest in its history. That money will fund a new campus center, scholarships, and academic programs.
Maxey said that growth naturally translates to more legal needs for the institution: ?The work of the college has grown more complex as the college has grown and changed.? He cited a growing staff and faculty, along with recent real estate acquisitions as reasons to have an attorney close at hand. ?It seems like this a natural step in the maturity of the college,? he said.
Pace says that growth is a big part of what attracted him to the job: ?Frankly, Roanoke College is on a rocket. To be part of that is very exciting to me.?
The new GC has been a witness to the college?s evolution. He is a longtime resident of Salem, VA, where the college is located, and an adjunct professor in the school?s public affairs department. From 1999 to 2012, he was the managing partner of Roanoke-based firm Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, which provides outside counsel to the college.
?[Pace] has really served our community in a fine and distinguished way,? Maxey said.
Pace is also the former president of the Virginia Bar Association, and the founder and president of the Center for Teaching the Rule of Law, which located its offices on the Roanoke College campus in 2012?and has been lauded by the American Bar Association Commission on Civic Education as a ?best practices? program for bar associations in the United States. He received a B.A. in history from Hampden-Sydney College and a J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he also serves as an adjunct professor.
Although Pace is eager to transition from private practice to in-house work, he expects it to be an adjustment. ?The in-house general counsel to a college is different form providing legal services as lawyer with a firm,? he said. ?My biggest challenge is getting to go more in-depth in the how the college and its various departments work, and to educate myself so I can be helpful on a daily basis for the college and its legal needs.?
A secondary challenge might be avoiding his daughter, whom he has promised to see on campus only when she wishes. ?She?s a little bit scared about it,? he joked.

One issue that has plagued many Google Voice users since the dawn of time (or at least since GV became a thing) is how not good the app itself is. Those who use GV as their primary phone number are stuck using the app for things like sending/receiving SMS messages, and up until now, there was absolutely no alternative.
Today, however, Koush Dutta has announced Google Voice SMS integration in CM10.1 with not only the stock messaging app, but also any third party application you may use (GoSMS, Handcent, etc.). This is a pretty big deal to anyone who uses both Google Voice and CM, but may also be incentive for GV users who are tired of the terrible app to give the latest CM10.1 builds a shot.
The process seems to be pretty straightforward ? here are Dutta's instructions on how to get it working, directly from his Google+ page:

A new first-person version of the classic arcade game "Pac-Man" shows what it's like to step inside the yellow pellet-muncher's shoes, and the results are terrifying.
Ever wonder what it would feel like to really step into Pac-Man's shoes, or whatever it is that helps the guy move forward and gobble up all those pellets?
Sure, running around with a relentless case of the munchies and occasionally swallowing your worst enemies whole might seem like a lot of fun, but wouldn't wandering around a dark "Tron"-like maze where the only other things to interact with are a bunch of silent ghosts that just stare at you until they somehow kill you with little more than a touch sound absolutely terrifying? As the popular Web comic "Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal" put it, if you really think about the story of "Pac-Man," "it's like Kafka wrote a Lovecraft story."
That's certainly what playing "FPS-Man" feels like. Created by the British-based developer Tom Davies while he was learning how to use the Unity game engine, "FPS-Man" is a harrowing take on the classic arcade game.
"FPS-Man" plays less like the cartoonish hunt for cherries and pellets that we all know and love from the arcade cabinets of yore and more like Theseus trying to hunt down the Minotaur and escape the maze. Think those scenes from the first "Alien" movie when they're all trying to survive by tracking a tiny dot across a screen, except suddenly its giant-eyed ghosts that are jumping out at you. Luckily, the game spares you any gore whenever the ghosts catch Pac-Man.
Hopefully given the timing of "FPS-Man's" release, this means that survival horror spin on the arcade classic will soon appear on next-generation consoles ? or better yet, a virtual reality platform like the Oculus Rift or the Omni treadmill. Because what could be more fun (or terrifying) than having to run away from dead-eyed ghosts as your own personal Pac-Man?
In the meantime, you can play "FPS-Man" for free on the website Kongregate.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Admitted leaker Edward Snowden took flight Sunday in evasion of U.S. authorities, seeking asylum in Ecuador and leaving the Obama administration scrambling to determine its next step in what became a game of diplomatic cat-and-mouse.
The former National Security Agency contractor and CIA technician fled Hong Kong and arrived at the Moscow airport, where he planned to spend the night before boarding an Aeroflot flight to Cuba. Ecuador's Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino said his government received an asylum request from Snowden, and the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks said it would help him.
"He goes to the very countries that have, at best, very tense relationships with the United States," said Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., adding that she feared Snowden would trade more U.S. secrets for asylum. "This is not going to play out well for the national security interests of the United States."
The move left the U.S. with limited options as Snowden's itinerary took him on a tour of what many see as anti-American capitals. Ecuador in particular has rejected the United States' previous efforts at cooperation, and has been helping WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, avoid prosecution by allowing him to stay at its embassy in London.
Snowden helped The Guardian and The Washington Post disclose U.S. surveillance programs that collect vast amounts of phone records and online data in the name of foreign intelligence, but often sweep up information on American citizens. Officials have the ability to collect phone and Internet information broadly but need a warrant to examine specific cases where they believe terrorism is involved.
Snowden had been in hiding for several weeks in Hong Kong, a former British colony with a high degree of autonomy from mainland China. The United States formally sought Snowden's extradition from Hong Kong but was rebuffed; Hong Kong officials said the U.S. request did not fully comply with their laws.
The Justice Department rejected that claim, saying its request met all of the requirements of the extradition treaty between the U.S. and Hong Kong.
During conversations last week, including a phone call Wednesday between Attorney General Eric Holder and Hong Kong Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen, Hong Kong officials never raised any issues regarding sufficiency of the U.S. request, a Justice spokesperson said.
A State Department official said the United States was in touch through diplomatic and law enforcement channels with countries that Snowden could travel through or to, reminding them that Snowden is wanted on criminal charges and reiterating Washington's position that Snowden should only be permitted to travel back to the U.S.
Those officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the case.
The Justice Department said it would "pursue relevant law enforcement cooperation with other countries where Mr. Snowden may be attempting to travel."
The White House would only say that President Barack Obama had been briefed on the developments by his national security advisers.
Russia's state ITAR-Tass news agency and Interfax cited an unnamed Aeroflot airline official as saying Snowden was on the plane that landed Sunday afternoon in Moscow.
Upon his arrival, Snowden did not leave Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport. One explanation could be that he wasn't allowed; a U.S. official said Snowden's passport had been revoked, and special permission from Russian authorities would have been needed.
"It's almost hopeless unless we find some ways to lean on them," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.
The Russian media report said Snowden intended to fly to Cuba on Monday and then on to Caracas, Venezuela.
U.S. lawmakers scoffed. "The freedom trail is not exactly China-Russia-Cuba-Venezuela, so I hope we'll chase him to the ends of the earth, bring him to justice and let the Russians know there'll be consequences if they harbor this guy," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
With each suspected flight, efforts to secure Snowden's return to the United States appeared more complicated if not impossible. The United States does not have an extradition treaty with Russia, but does with Cuba, Venezuela and Ecuador. Even with an extradition agreement though, any country could give Snowden a political exemption.
The likelihood that any of these countries would stop Snowden from traveling on to Ecuador seemed remote. While diplomatic tensions have thawed in recent years, Cuba and the United States are hardly allies after a half century of distrust.
Venezuela, too, could prove difficult. Former President Hugo Chavez was a sworn enemy of the United States and his successor, Nicolas Maduro, earlier this year called Obama "grand chief of devils." The two countries do not exchange ambassadors.
U.S. pressure on Caracas also might be problematic given its energy exports. The U.S. Energy Information Agency reports Venezuela sent the United States 900,000 barrels of crude oil each day in 2012, making it the fourth-largest foreign source of U.S. oil.
"I think 10 percent of Snowden's issues are now legal, and 90 percent political," said Douglas McNabb, an expert in international extradition and a senior principal at international criminal defense firm McNabb Associates.
Assange's lawyer, Michael Ratner, said Snowden's options aren't numerous.
"You have to have a country that's going to stand up to the United States," Ratner said. "You're not talking about a huge range of countries here."
That is perhaps why Snowden first stopped in Russia, a nation with complicated relations with Washington.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is "aiding and abetting Snowden's escape," said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
"Allies are supposed to treat each other in decent ways, and Putin always seems almost eager to put a finger in the eye of the United States," Schumer said. "That's not how allies should treat one another, and I think it will have serious consequences for the United States-Russia relationship."
It also wasn't clear Snowden was finished with disclosing highly classified information.
"I am very worried about what else he has," said Rep. Loretta Sanchez, a California Democrat who sits on the House Homeland Security Committee.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said she had been told Snowden had perhaps more than 200 sensitive documents.
Ros-Lehtinen and King spoke with CNN. Graham spoke to "Fox News Sunday." Schumer was on CNN's "State of the Union." Sanchez appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press." Feinstein was on CBS' "Face the Nation."

LONDON (Reuters) - The Japanese yen weakened toward 100 to the dollar on Monday and shares rose after the G20 accepted Japan's bold stimulus policies, helping to counter the gloom over the global growth outlook.
U.S. stock index futures also pointed to a higher open on Wall Street, where the focus is on quarterly corporate results and whether these suggest further weakness ahead. <.n/>
In its communique after a two-day meeting, the G20 avoided any direct criticism of Japan's policies and appeared to accept the need to reflate the world's third largest economy as part of efforts to invigorate a shaky global economic recovery.
Major world central banks have been holding interest rates at rock-bottom levels since 2008 while pumping over $6 trillion into their banking systems through loans and asset-purchase operations with only modest success so far.
"The real issue of deflation in Japan has to be tackled before we can have a genuine global recovery," said James Bevan, chief investment Officer at CCLA Investment Management.
The G20's actions removed any remaining obstacles to further yen weakness, setting up a test of the symbolic 100 yen to the dollar level and boosting demand for Japanese stocks.
"Japan not only escaped criticism, but on the contrary won praise as a country that was fulfilling its global obligations," said Marshall Gittler, head of global FX strategy at IronFX.
"That is in effect the green light for the BOJ's easing, which we expect will push USD/JPY through the magic 100 number in the not-too-distant future - perhaps as early as today."
The dollar was at 99.75 yen, off an intraday high of 99.90 and just below a four-year peak of 99.95 hit on April 11.
The euro also rose against the yen, reaching 130.70 from around 129.98 late on Friday, near a three-year peak of 131.10 set earlier this month.
Against the dollar, the euro eased slightly to $1.3040 after touching a session high of $1.3130 on Friday. The euro, which failed to break above $1.32 recently, has been stuck in a $1.30/32 range for the past week.
ITALIAN RESOLUTION
European stock markets were on course for a second straight daily gain, helped up by a jump in Italy's blue-chip index after the country's long-running political crisis moved a step closer to resolution.
Milan's FTSE MIB index <.ftmib> gained as much as 2 percent on hopes the re-election of Italy's 87-year old president Giorgio Napolitano would see a new government emerge within days, ending two months of political stalemate.
The broad FTSEurofirst 300 index <.fteu3> was up 0.8 percent at 1,162 points at midday, while Paris's CAC-40 <.fchi> and Frankfurt's DAX <.gdaxi> were about 0.75 percent higher. <.eu/>
MSCI's world equity index <.miwd00000pus> gained 0.25 percent, in part due to the better tone seen earlier in Asia when Japan's Nikkei hit its highest level in five years <.n225> as the yen weakened after the G20 statement.
In the debt market Italian 10-year bond yields dropped to near their lowest levels in two years at 4.08 percent in response to the political resolution, while safe-haven equivalent German bonds were steady at 1.24 percent.
Traders had not expected a big move in German bonds as the market is awaiting key surveys on European purchasing managers' activity in April, due on Tuesday. These are likely to show the euro zone remains mired in recession, increasing the chance of a rate cut by the European Central bank.
COMMODITIES SHAKY
In the commodity markets gold rebounded from its sharp sell-off last week, though sentiment remained shaky after the precious metal posted its biggest-ever daily loss in dollar terms last Monday.
The spot gold price rose more than 2 percent at one point to a high of $1,436.70 an ounce, well above the two-year low of $1,321.35 touched last week.
U.S. gold futures hit a high of 1,434.50 an ounce, up 2.8 percent from the previous close of 1,395.60.
Oil also rebounded, extending its gains into a third day as low prices brought buyers back into the market following sharp drops earlier in the month due to the worries about the growth outlook and its impact on demand.
Brent has lost 10 percent since the start of April as growth in the United States and China - the world's two largest oil consumers - slowed while recession in Europe deepened.
June Brent crude rose $1 a barrel to $100.65, while U.S. crude for June delivery gained 65 cents to $88.65 a barrel after a 3.6 percent loss last week.
"This is more bargain-hunting than anything else. People are getting back in the market, but that may not be sustained depending on the (economic) data this week," said Simon Wardell, an analyst at Global Insight.

(Reuters) - A privately owned rocket built in partnership with NASA to haul cargo to the International Space Station blasted off on Sunday for a debut test flight from a new commercial spaceport in Virginia.
The 13-story Antares rocket, developed and flown by Orbital Sciences Corp, lifted off at 5 p.m. EDT from a Virginia-owned and operated launch pad at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia.
"Beautiful view," said NASA launch commentator Kyle Herring as live video from the rocket, broadcast on NASA TV, showed the booster riding atop a bright plume of fire above the Atlantic Ocean.
Ten minutes later, the rocket deposited its payload - a 8,380-pound (3,800-kg) dummy capsule - into an orbit 158 miles above the planet, fulfilling the primary goal of the test flight.
Orbital Sciences and privately owned Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX, hold NASA contracts worth a combined $3.5 billion to fly cargo to the space station, a $100 billion research outpost that flies about 250 miles above Earth.
NASA turned to commercial suppliers after retiring the space shuttles in 2011.
Flight controllers radioed news of Antares' successful debut to the station crew shortly after launch.
"Wahoo, that's super," replied station commander Chris Hadfield, with the Canadian Space Agency.
"Congratulations to all concerned. That bodes well for all of our futures," Hadfield said.
On its next flight, scheduled for late June or early July, another Antares rocket will carry a Cygnus cargo ship on a demonstration mission to the station.
California-based SpaceX completed three test flights and last year began delivering cargo to the station under its $1.6 billion contract.
'A LONG SLOG'
The debut of Orbital Sciences' Antares rocket was delayed by the construction of its launch pad at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport, located on the southern end of NASA's Wallops Island facility. Two launch attempts last week were canceled due to a last-minute technical problem followed by bad weather at the launch site.
"It's been a long slog," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said after the launch. "It's absolutely incredible what this team has done."
NASA's share of developing the Antares rocket and Cygnus capsule will total about $288 million upon successful completion of the second and final planned test flight.
Combined, NASA and Orbital Sciences spent about $300 million to develop Cygnus and slightly more than that to develop the rocket, Orbital Sciences Executive Vice President Frank Culbertson told reporters after the launch.
"As a company it was a huge risk to invest in this," he said. "But I think it's going to demonstrate a commercial capability that will pay off in the long run."
"With the right people pulling together and with great teammates, we were able to achieve this. We're real happy," Culbertson said.
NASA's contribution to SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon cargo capsule development was $396 million.
Standing 130 feet tall and packing 740,000 pounds of thrust at liftoff, Antares was the largest rocket to fly from Wallops Island, which has been operating for 68 years as a launch site for smaller suborbital rockets, high-altitude balloons and research aircraft.
In addition to station cargo runs, Orbital Sciences has a separate contract to launch a NASA moon probe aboard a Minotaur 5 rocket from Wallops in August.

The plot thickens, but the mood grows lighter.
Unexpectedly, and blithely, amusing.
The film itself vaporizes before your eyes, but it's likable. Given its unstable mishmash of thuggery and whimsy, that's something of an achievement.
Like the spirit it celebrates, "The Angel's Share" is a neat little jolt of pleasure - and guaranteed to leave you feeling just a mite warmer.

Although the English director Ken Loach has been making socially conscious movies for close to 50 years, this shaggy comedy unfolds like the work of a young man on a lark.
With The Angels' Share, Ken Loach expertly combines a handful of genres which congeal into an often funny, always charming affair that serves as a salute to whisky to boot.
Loach films have been funny while making their point before (see "Riff Raff"), but this one is imbued with a little bit of magic...Those offended by four letter words should be warned that even the voice of God slings a heavy dose of them here.
Ken Loach comedy about young Glaswegian reprobates fighting for a second chance has charm aplenty, but suffers from occasional portions of cheese and a hard-to-swallow premise (whisky-tasting as gateway to a better life).
I'm not suggesting The Angels' Share is a chock full of bellylaughs, but it's the first Loach film in some time that lacks the sensation of having a plastic grocery bag pulled over one's face.
Some good laughs and a passable air of bonhomie do nothing to cover up the fact that The Angels' Share is totally lightweight and distractingly underdone.
