Fernando Alonso says Ferrari needs to find loopholes in rules to beat Red Bull ? Formula 1 news
Ferrari?s Fernando Alonso has stated that his team needs to find loopholes in the FIA rules and regulations just like their rivals in order to win over Red Bull Racing.
?There were several incidents in which the other teams were at the limit, but not us. This has always happened and always will,? he told Italy?s La Gazzetta dello Sport. ?However, we too have to think within the confines of the rules while looking for some limits, some holes, like the other teams do in order to improve our performances.?
Alonso and Red Bull?s Sebastian Vettel remained in an intense fight for the championship towards the end of the 2012 F1 season but Red Bull also remained surrounded by controversies relating to breaking technical regulations of the FIA throughout the season. The Austrian team remained in a lot of pressure for using an illegal engine map during the German Grand Prix even though it was not proven that they broke any rule. However, FIA changed the technical regulations following the whole issue.
The team was also involved in controversy regarding a hole that they made in the car?s floor which according to FIA was illegal as it was giving them an aerodynamic advantage.
Red Bull?s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, has confessed his frustration about being constantly under attack from the FIA and rival F1 teams. He told that the continuous rule changing by FIA is restricting F1 and actually the rules hold no spirit since they can still find loopholes in them. He added that while they were put under pressure, Ferrari was using similar solutions at some point in the season.
The end of the season saw Red Bull securing the third straight constructor title while Vettel became the youngest triple champion. Following the result of the Brazilian GP, Ferrari asked for a clarification of a particular overtake by Vettel during the race but were disappointed as the German was not found at any mistake.
Vettel has also mentioned about his rivals playing ?dirty tricks? but said that the team were more focused on themselves. He won by three points over Alonso.
