COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) ? Seth Allen drained a pair of free throws with 2.8 seconds left to give Maryland an 83-81 win over second-ranked Duke. Allen finished with 16 points and Alex Len added a team-high 19 as the Terrapins dropped Duke to 22-3. Quinn Cook had 18 points for the Blue Devils and had a chance to win it until he missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) ? Will Sheehey scored a career-high 22 points and set a team record by going 9-for-9 from the field as top-ranked Indiana clobbered Purdue 83-55. Cody Zeller finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, and Christian Watford scored 10 of his 14 points in the first five minutes. The only blemish for the Hoosiers was an injury to Victor Oladipo (oh-lah-DEE'-poh), who sprained his ankle in the final minute of the first half and missed the rest of the game.
HOUSTON (AP) ? Toronto rookie Terrence Ross beat defending champion Jeremy Evans to win the slam-dunk contest during the All-Star weekend festivities in Houston. Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving beat San Antonio's Matt Bonner to win the 3-point contest. A team of Chris Bosh, Swin Cash and Dominique Wilkins won the Shooting Stars competition, and Portland rookie Damian Lillard beat Philadelphia guard Jrue Holiday in the final round to win the Skills Competition.
HOUSTON (AP) ? Billy Hunter has been unanimously voted out as executive director of the NBA players' association. A possible change has been building since a review of the union last month was critical of Hunter's leadership and urged players to consider whether they wanted to keep him. Hunter had led the union since 1996 and his attorneys have indicated there could be a legal challenge if he was removed.
LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Bill Haas will take a two-shot lead over three golfers into the final round of the Northern Trust Open. The defending champion is 12-under par after firing a 7-under 64 in round three. Webb Simpson, Charl Schwartzel (SHAR'-uhl SHWORTS'-uhl) John Merrick are tied for second place with 18 holes to play at Riviera.
